Appointed about 27 months after the Ministers of the Federal Capital Territory Administration were sworn-in, The newly appointed Secretary for Education, Hon Sani Dahir El-katuzu is hitting the ground running as he revealed that, Education Standard under his tenure will not be compromised.
The New Secretary who stated this during his maiden meeting with the Education Management staff of the secretariat explained that Education is the bedrock of any meaningful development and key to social and economic emancipation hence it should be made a priority.
Hon. El-katuzu expressed his desire to work within the available time he has, stressing his passion for the Education Sector. According to him, he is a trained Educationist and has held various position in the Teaching and Learning System advising that, as custodians of Children, we must not only mould the Children to be academically sound and morally fit in the Society but we must be role models to them.
In A statement by Head of Media Unit in the Secretariat Kabiru Musa the New Secretary with little over a year to prove his worth said, every FCT residents should have access to Education because Educating them has proven to be a great asset to the Parents, Society and Nation as a whole.
He added that, investing in Education will make positive impact in the FCT.
He stated further that as an educationist, he is aware of the need to provide functional Education services hence his utmost desire is to ensure such educational services are provided when and where necessary in the FCT.
Hon El-katuzu therefore stressed his willingness to work with a vision of providing and sustaining qualitative and functional as well as inclusive Education to FCT residents.
He thanked the Hon Minister for FCT and Minister of State for counting him worthy to serve in this capacity and assure that he will take Education in FCT to an enviable height while pledging to work harmoniously with management team towards attaining the goals of the FCT Education Secretariat.
He solicits for the support and cooperation of the Education Management as a team adding that he is set to work assiduously and be focused to ensure he leaves a worthy legacy behind within the time he has.
Welcoming the new Secretary for Education earlier, the Director of Administration and Finance, Malam Leramoh Abdulrazaq said, it is heart warming to receive the Secretary and informed him that the Education management team is ready to work with him to achieve his mandate.
Hon Sani Dahir El-katuzu was born in 1960 in Yobe State, he had his early Education at Sabon Gari Primary School, his Secondary at Government Secondary School both at Gashu’a respectively while he obtained his Bachelor of Arts (Hons)Education at University of Maiduguri and Master of Education (Admin & Planning) at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
He had held various positions which include National Secretary, All Nigeria Peoples Party, Special Adviser on Education to the Governor of Yobe State, Majority Leader, Federal House of Representative, Assistant Director, Planning, Borno State Primary Schools Management Board among others. He had also attended trainings and workshop both in the teaching and learning system and legislative matters.
He has to his credit some academic publications such as Managing and Administering the Secondary (3-3) School System, Supervision and Administration of Change in Secondary Education in Borno among others.
The highlight of the meeting is his plan immediately undertake a working visit to the various boards and departments under the education Secretariat across the six Area Councils.
