... Holds 8th Annual Fashion Exhibition with MAC89XPERIENCE

Lagos State Government has restated its continuous support to African brand and indigenous designers through meaningful partnerships, provision of enabling environment and exposure to markets and customers.

The Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Mrs. Yetunde Arobieke gave this assurance at the 8th annual Fashion Exhibition with the theme: “Step To Greatness ” organized by Mac89xperience, in collaboration with the Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment.

She said the Fashion Show is aimed at promoting
Grass-root entrepreneurs and designers (Fashion Designers)
who have now become professional contemporary designers after their training with the Lagos State Government.

She noted that in 2018, the Ministry was involved in the
training of 50 unemployed youths through the Sustainable
Development Programme in conjunction with Betti-0/ Ruff ‘n’ Tumble, revealing that 35 of trainees are now participating designers in this exhibition.

Arobieke noted that the Fashion Exhibition will impact greatly in the lives of the Grass-root designers by helping them to showcase their talents while accessing possible network which will
enhance their business opportunities as well as in the area of revenue generation.

She disclosed that the Lagos State Government is also investing in various programmes geared towards reducing the menace of unemployment among the teeming youths in the State, thus making them useful to themselves and the society at large.

These programmes, according to her, include, but not limited to: Auto Maintenance/Repair Training Programme, Solar Farm Skills Training Programme, Graduate Internship Placement Programme among others.

Mrs Yetunde Arobieke used the opportunity of the Fashion Show to emphasize the need for continuously advocacy for learning of vocational skills by youths in order to transform them to become employers of labour.

In her words: “This Fashion Show will give the designers the platform to showcase their collections, network and enlist clientele who will
patronize them.

She appreciated the State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for his continual
support in reducing unemployment among Lagos youths and providing a conducive and thriving environment for entrepreneurs.
