The Global Peace Movement International, UK, has commended the Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Olanipekun Olukoyede, for his relentless efforts in tackling corruption across Nigeria.
In a news conference held on Friday in Benin, the capital city of Edo State, the President General of the group, Dr. Mike Uyi, expressed strong support for the EFCC’s renewed drive against corruption under Olukoyede’s leadership. He particularly praised the Chairman for targeting corrupt public office holders without regard to their political affiliations.
Dr. Uyi noted that despite the deep-rooted corruption in the country, Olukoyede’s leadership has brought a renewed sense of hope for the nation’s governance. “Since Olukoyede assumed office, the strategic steps and holistic approach being applied by the commission have reinvigorated the fight against corruption in the country,” Uyi remarked.
Under Olukoyede’s tenure, the EFCC has made significant strides in the fight against corruption, leading to the recovery of billions of naira in stolen funds, the prosecution of high-profile cases, and a marked increase in the conviction rate. His leadership has also focused on strengthening the commission’s capacity to investigate and prosecute complex financial crimes, leading to greater public confidence in the EFCC’s operations.
The Global Peace Movement International, a prominent organization dedicated to promoting peace, justice, and good governance globally, stands firmly behind Olukoyede’s efforts. The group’s mission is to foster global peace by supporting initiatives that promote transparency, accountability, and the rule of law—values that align closely with the EFCC’s mandate under Olukoyede’s leadership.
Dr. Uyi pledged the GPMI’s continued commitment to supporting the EFCC’s mission to eradicate corruption in Nigeria. He encouraged the Chairman to remain steadfast in his pursuit of verifiable cases, urging him not to relent in his efforts to bring corrupt individuals to justice.
The Global Peace Movement International believes that a corruption-free Nigeria is achievable and that the EFCC, under Olukoyede’s leadership, is making significant progress toward that goal.
