Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, the Senate Leader, on Tuesday in attendance with national and international leaders launched his much-awaited book, titled “Leadership Through Communication” (Volumes 1and 2).
He also confirmed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will submit the ministerial list to the Senate on Thursday.
He said, “Significantly this morning (Tuesday) I saw a missed call and it was Seyi Tinubu and Seyi said at exactly 10 o’clock make sure your phone is your hand.
“This is because Mr President is going to call you and three minutes past 10 a.m, Mr President Bola Tinubu was on the phone and he said to me Opeyemi, you know nothing in this world would have stopped me from being there on your birthday.
“Let me tell you and you must encourage me. I need to make myself unavailable for the next 48 hours because a correspondence must come to the Senate, a very crucial correspondence.
“So Mr President prayed for me and that we should tell the rest of Nigerians to pray for him.
“This is to be able to make the right decision within the next 24 hours so that when Nigerians hear the list of his ministers, they will say yes, this is uncommon.”
The Senator added the importance of the call and concluded, “the president asked that we pray to God to grant him all the wisdom in taking this decision and in providing leadership to the country”.
The book was authored by him to mark his 60th birthday
Senator represents Ekiti Central Senatorial zone and as he explained further, that the book was a collection of papers he developed at different areas, sessions and events.
“I’m doing this to encourage every young man who sees the need to be loyal to just do whatever he has to do and be the unseen hand and the unheard voice behind your boss.
“I will give my best not only in the red chamber but to anywhere I find myself.
” I have been saved to serve. I dedicate the book to God who saved me to serve.”
The books are titled: “Leadership Through Communication” (Volumes 1 & 2) and a statement further shared that – “This is in his erudite efforts to dissect the social, political and economic events which gave birth to the current Fourth Republic in retrospect to the independence era.
“Among other things, the first volume of the book comes in 406 pages and 14 chapters.
“It addresses how to actualise development at the grassroots through information and strategy, advocating rights of the poor in society, ending want in the midst of plenty and maintaining integrity in public office.
“This volume also talks about Lagos Mega City and global economic meltdown, government and media relations in Lagos.
“This is where the Senate Leader cut his teeth in politics under the able tutorship of President Bola Tinubu then as Governor of Lagos.
“It is on record that Bamidele served in various capacities which include two-term commissioner, Special Adviser and Special Assistant in government of Lagos.
“Lagos is proudly regarded as one of the largest economies on the continent and the commercial nerve centre of Nigeria.
“In a foreword written by Prof. Adeyemi Isumonah of the Department of Political Science, University of Ibadan; he said, “Bamidele’s book is an overview of major processes of leadership and development with a pointed message for major stakeholders in society.”
At the same event the Senate President, Chief Dr. Godswill Akpabio, lamented the challenges some governors go through with their predecessors immediately after they left offices.
Senator Akpabio gave insights citing newly elected Senator Adams Oshiomole, Senator Adamu Ailero, concluding that Ekiti State governor, Abiodun Oyebanji, is one that can be said yet to fight with his predecessor.
He commended Senator Michael Bamidele Opeyemi for his dedication and loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for more than three decades.
On his Senate Leader Bamidele’s book, the President of the Senate said, “The Governor of Ekiti State is a great example of what leadership should be, he has remained steadfast.
“As a governor, the moment you hand over power to your successor, he will turn on you, either his taste will change or his attitude, will change. There is no governor in Nigeria that has no problem with their predecessor, apart from the Ekiti governor.
“That is why we have to celebrate Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele for the kind of person he is.”
