Former Deputy Governor of Kebbi State, Ibrahim Khalid Aliyu, is dead.
Aliyu, who served as deputy governor under former Governor Saidu Usman Dakingari between 2007 and 2015, died in Sokoto on Friday after a prolonged illness.
His death was confirmed to journalists by an indigene of the Yauri Emirate, Alhaji Shehu Mohammed Yauri.
A native of the Yauri Emirate, the late Aliyu was widely regarded as a seasoned administrator who served both as a career civil servant and later as deputy governor of Kebbi State.
Reacting to the development, Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris described Aliyu’s death as a painful loss to his family, the Yauri Emirate, and the people of the state.
In a condolence message, the governor said the late former deputy governor distinguished himself through dedicated public service and earned widespread respect for his integrity and commitment to the development of Kebbi State.
He prayed for Almighty Allah to forgive Aliyu’s shortcomings, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, and give his family the strength to bear the loss.
