Activities marking the 89th birthday celebration of the former president of Nigeria and the Balogun of owu kingdom, His excellency Chief Olusegun Obasanjo Gcfr, begin on Sunday 1st of March, 2026 through Thursday 5th of March, 2026.

According to a release by the board of trustees of the Olusegun Obasanjo presidential library foundation, the celebration will commence on Sunday 1st of March with a thanksgiving service at the OOPL chapel beginning from 10:00 in the morning.

On Monday 2nd of March, 2026 there will be leadership training for student union leaders in higher institutions on the Obasanjo 55+20 leadership framework by nine in the morning.

Tuesday 3rd of March, 2026, there will be an international colloquium on the topic ‘ the burden and blessing of leadership: reflections from Africa to the World” (Hybrid) by 10:00 in the morning.

Activities for the grand finale hold on Thursday 5th of March, 2026 with the 89th birthday distinguished lecture on the topic ” the global Africa enlightenment: from chains to Renaissance ” by his excellency ambassador Jean Robert Pihard, Haitian Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the Republic of South Africa will begin from 9:00 in the morning followed by Olusegun Obasanjo leadership institute founder’s day event and graduation by twelve noon.

A grand reception will round off baba’s 89th birthday celebration on that same Thursday 5th of March, 2026 by one in the afternoon at the grand auditorium, Olusegun Obasanjo presidential library, Abeokuta.
