A coalition of Women civil right group, Women Intervention Group, WIG, has called on President Muhamadu Buhari and all Political actors in the country to urgently answer to all the requests of the youths during the #EndSARS Protest.
The Chairperson of the Group, Hon. Mary Manzo, in a Press statement on the current state of the Nation regarding the #EndSARS Protest made available to Newsmen in Abuja also called on the leaders to urgently begin to expand resources in building a structure that will create an enabling environment for employment and to harness their potentials for the growth of the land noting that this can be achieved through having the basic amenities that will Foster development.
According to her “as mothers of the nation we pray that our leaders and children who are in various leadership positions within the country will lend us a positive ears of reasoning as we jointly air our views and proffer solutions to the present day predicament we have found our nation in.
She noted that the country is blessed with human and natural resources that can make her the industrial hub of many nations, but was plunged into a state of anarchy and pandemonium in recent days.
The Chairperson further noted that some women had to go the extra miles working different shifts and selling valuables on the streets just to ensure that we give the best to them. All that we are begging for is to give this group of people the opportunity to explore their great potentials in a country that belongs to all of us.
Meanwhile the Southern women coordinator, Princess Sarah, Omawumi Obafemi said that “it was quite unfortunate that those appointed, selected or favoured by the regime did not express quality leadership style that would have cushioned the threat to our national unity”.
The Northern Nigerian WIG coordinator, Hajiya. Umma Getso raised concern about the activities of Boko Haram, bandits and herders who have crippled economic activities in the region.
”she said that; the Nigerian youths over the years have not been given adequate opportunity as well as enabling environment to express their talents to the fullest The level of unemployment has skyrocketed, living millions of them without job”
‘’The agitations from various quarters within the country have been on the front burner of stakeholders from the 6 six geo political regions of the country.
The outcry for restructuring and good governance has been the center of this agitation as many prominent Nigerians continue to pour in their displeasure with the abuse of federal character rules by the government”.
