Diaspora Progressives Attend SGF Grand Reception
Diaspora Progressives led by the former Director of the Diaspora Directorate, Prince Ade Omole, graced the Grand Reception in honour of H.E. Senator George Akume, CON, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF). The high-profile event, which was held at the International Conference Centre in Abuja, Nigeria, on Friday, 18th August 2023, was organised by the North Central Governors’ Forum under the chairmanship of H.E. Engr Abdullahi A. Sule.
The face of the Diaspora, Prince Ade Omole, extolled the virtues of the SGF, being a good fit for the SGF position with the ability and experience to carry out requisite duties and help pilot the affairs of the Renewed Hope Government.
SGF Akume is not one to learn on the job, having successfully governed Benue State, a miniature Nigeria, for two terms without hitches and with a very enviable record to show for it. A 3-term stint in the upper chamber of the National Assembly and a 4-year ministerial assignment must have equipped him with the versatility needed for the SGF position.
The SGF appointment indicates President Tinubu’s dedication to all Nigerians, regardless of their religious, regional or ethnic backgrounds. It reinforces Mr President’s steadfastness in his pledge to unite Nigeria and ensure equal quality representation. President Tinubu deserves commendation for maintaining his trademark commitment to meritocracy.
The event had in attendance the Vice President, H.E Kashim Shettima, GCON; H.E. Godswill Akpabio; Sen Dr George Akume, CON; H.E. Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq; H.E. Yahaya Bello; H.E. Simon Lalong; H.E.
