Customs Profile Increasingly Rising” – High Chief Egietseme Idinye Commends President Tinubu’s Strategic Appointment of CG Wale Adeniyi

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) made a unique appointment by choosing Mr. Wale Adeniyi (MFR) as the new Comptroller-General (CG) of the Nigeria Customs Service,” said High Chief Egietseme Idinye, a recipient of over 32 awards in Maritime Reporting and Customs activities.

Idinye expressed satisfaction with Adeniyi’s appointment, emphasizing its positive impact on stakeholders. He highlighted the innovative interventions in the Service, noting that it has been returned to capable hands well-versed in the system’s nuances, trade facilitation, and dedicated to officers’ career progression.

Speaking at Transcorp Hotel in Abuja, Idinye remarked, “Adeniyi’s appointment was a round peg in a round hole,” foreseeing a notable improvement in the Nigerian maritime sub-sector. He credited the recent surge in the Service’s revenue to the strategic leadership of Adeniyi, emphasizing President Tinubu’s astute selection.

“Adeniyi is a good listener, an excellent administrator who can drive the affairs of NCS in line with global best practices,” Idinye added, commending the initiative to convene retired CGs and senior officers, facilitating knowledge exchange and camaraderie.

Highlighting the increased operational efficiency, minimized smuggling activities, and heightened morale among personnel under Adeniyi’s leadership, Idinye appealed to the National Assembly to continue supporting revenue-generating organizations like Customs and the Federal Inland Revenue Service.

Idinye concluded by acknowledging Adeniyi’s alignment with President Tinubu’s agenda for the full implementation of the 2023 Customs Act, affirming his pride in supporting this new leadership’s efforts for the country’s overall benefit.
