President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has carried out a minor reshuffle of his cabinet, removing two key ministers in a move aimed at strengthening governance and economic delivery.
The affected officials are Wale Edun, who served as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, and Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, Minister of Housing and Urban Development.
According to an official statement issued by the Presidency, the decision was conveyed through a memo signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume. The announcement was made public by presidential media aide Yomi Odunuga.
As part of the immediate changes, Taiwo Oyedele, previously Minister of State for Finance, has been directed to take over as the substantive Minister of Finance. Meanwhile, Muttaqha Rabe Darma has been named as minister-designate for the Housing and Urban Development Ministry.
The directive also mandates both outgoing ministers to complete handover processes to their respective successors no later than April 23, 2026.
Explaining the rationale behind the reshuffle, the Presidency stated that the move is intended to “strengthen cohesion and synergy in governance” and enhance the delivery of economic outcomes under the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
President Tinubu expressed appreciation to the outgoing ministers for their service, while assuring that efforts to reinvigorate his cabinet and improve performance would remain ongoing.
The reshuffle, though described as minor, signals a continued recalibration within the Federal Executive Council as the administration seeks to address economic challenges and accelerate policy implementation.
