LONDON/OXFORD, 14–31 AUGUST 2026 — A new chapter in Africa’s cultural and diplomatic engagement is unfolding in Britain as the African & Global Queens Summit 2026 brings together African queens, traditional rulers, scholars, humanitarian leaders and members of the African Diaspora for an 18-day programme across London and Oxford.
Convened by Her Royal Majesty Queen Aruk II (Obonganwan Marie Erete), the summit is built around four central pillars — Unity, Legacy, Sovereignty and Empowerment — seeking to reposition traditional African leadership as a living institution capable of contributing to contemporary discussions on culture, governance, peacebuilding and community development.
The programme includes royal ceremonies at Porchester Hall, residential engagements in Oxfordshire, a bespoke leadership and governance programme at the University of Oxford, strategic Queens’ Roundtables, cultural activities and a proposed cultural finale around the Notting Hill Carnival.
At its centre is the Queen Aruk Declaration, which calls for greater unity among African Queens, attention to land sovereignty and restorative justice, protection and restitution of African cultural heritage, stronger roles for women in peace and governance, and intergenerational royal leadership.
The summit therefore goes beyond ceremony. Globally, it reflects a growing recognition that cultural identity, traditional institutions, women’s leadership and diaspora networks can complement formal diplomacy and development.
With participation drawn from Africa and the Diaspora, the African Queens Summit has the potential to become more than an annual gathering: a continuing platform for African heritage, leadership, diplomacy and humanitarian action on the world stage.
