In a continued effort to strengthen families of Junior Police personnel nationwide, The Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF) Partnering the Nigeria Police Force and the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA) has launched its maiden skills acquisition and empowerment programme for spouses of junior police officers nationwide.

Speaking during the flag off of the first phase of the empowerment program in Abuja, the Executive Secretary of the NPTF, Mohammed Sheidu, said the programme reflects the Fund’s recognition that economic empowerment of police families is as vital as its investments in training and infrastructure, noting that the vocational skills and start-up packs provided were designed to build sustainable household livelihoods fod families of Junior Police officers.

Mohammed Sheidu who used the medium to commend President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for inspiring the initiative, charged beneficiaries to build businesses that uplift their families and communities.

The initiative which was unveiled at the M.D. Abubakar Police Barracks, Dei-Dei, Abuja, targets over 2,000 beneficiaries across all states of the federation with donations of startup kits for different handwork and businesses.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, In his remarks shortly before he handed over the equipment to the beneficiaries described the programme as an investment in the stability and wellbeing of police families, noting that officer welfare cannot be separated from that of their households. IGP Disu commended the wives of junior officers for the steadfast support that sustains the Force’s effectiveness and morale, and urged beneficiaries to treat the resources provided as a foundation for financial independence rather than immediate relief.

In her remarks, the National President of POWA, Chief Mrs. Olufunmilola Mutiat Disu, described the initiative as a strategic investment in the Force’s morale and professionalism rather than an act of charity, noting that national security begins at home. She pledged POWA’s continued partnership with the NPTF to sustain the programme and called on other government agencies and corporate organisations to emulate the initiative.

The New management of the Nigeria Police Force under IGP Disu always assured that the Force remains committed to strengthening the welfare of its personnel and their families, and will continue to partner with the Nigeria Police Trust Fund, POWA, and other stakeholders to build stronger police families and a more effective Force nationwide.
