
The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring safer learning environments for Nigerian students through continued support for the Safe School Initiative. Arch. Sonny Echono, Executive Secretary of Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), made this statement while receiving the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) in his office.
Echono emphasized that the government, in collaboration with security agencies, will continue to ensure safe learning environments, focusing on improving learning conditions, encouraging lecturers, and providing facilities and resources. He assured NANS that the present administration aims to make students globally competitive, enabling them to create jobs rather than just seeking employment.
The NANS leadership commended TETFund on infrastructure development in tertiary institutions and expressed confidence in Echono’s leadership. They informed Echono of their plans for the 45th anniversary celebration, scheduled for December 4-7, 2025, where the President and Echono will be awarded the Grand Commander and Patron of Nigerian Students, respectively
