Security agencies have heightened vigilance around Federal Unity Colleges nationwide ahead of the reopening of the schools on Monday, September 14, 2026, the Federal Ministry of Education has said.

The development is part of measures being put in place by the Federal Government to guarantee the safety of students, teachers and other members of school communities as the new academic session begins.

The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, CON, said on Friday that relevant security agencies had been duly briefed on the resumption arrangements and were maintaining close watch around the colleges and their immediate environments.

Alausa said the government remained committed to ensuring that students return to school in a safe and conducive environment, stressing that the protection and wellbeing of learners remained a priority.

He consequently urged parents and guardians not to panic but to proceed with preparations for their children and wards to return to their respective Federal Unity Colleges on Monday as scheduled.

The Minister also directed principals and other school authorities to maintain close communication with security agencies and relevant government authorities before and during the resumption period.

He called on students, parents, teachers and school administrators to cooperate with security personnel and contribute to maintaining peaceful and secure school environments.

According to him, the Federal Ministry of Education will continue to monitor the situation nationwide and take appropriate measures, in collaboration with relevant authorities, to address any emerging concerns.

The assurance comes as the government intensifies efforts to strengthen the safety of learning environments while pursuing broader reforms aimed at improving the quality and accessibility of education under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The Ministry reiterated that all Federal Unity Colleges remain scheduled to resume academic activities on Monday, September 14, 2026.
