Filling stations across Nigeria have again reduced the pump price of petrol following a fresh price cut by the Dangote Refinery.
A market survey on Monday showed that MRS filling stations in Abuja and its environs reduced their petrol price to N1,210 per litre, from N1,260, representing a N50 reduction per litre.
Similarly, AA Rano and other filling stations along the Kubwa Expressway reduced their pump prices by about N25 per litre, selling petrol at around N1,275 per litre.
The latest reductions came after the Dangote Refinery announced a fresh cut in the prices of petrol and Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), prompting several marketers to adjust their pump prices downward.
The refinery had reduced its petrol ex-gantry price to N1,165 per litre, from N1,215, while diesel was also reduced. The move triggered fresh price adjustments across the downstream petroleum market.
The latest development follows another round of price reductions recorded about eight days earlier, when MRS and other filling stations cut petrol prices by between N25 and N45 per litre.
The successive reductions have intensified competition among petroleum marketers, with motorists beginning to patronise outlets offering cheaper petrol.
