The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the upload of results from Saturday’s Osun State governorship election on its Result Viewing (IReV) portal.

Checks by our correspondent on the portal as of 4:03pm showed that results from 402 polling units had been uploaded out of the expected 3,763, representing 10.68 per cent of the total.

Data on the IReV portal indicated that the latest upload, recorded at 4:03:10pm, came from polling unit 29/02/04/006, as collation continued across the state’s 30 local government areas.

The election is being closely watched as incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party seeks re-election against All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Bola Oyebamiji, African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate Najeem Salaam and other contenders.

The IReV portal, introduced by INEC to improve transparency in the electoral process, enables the public and election observers to view polling unit-level results as they are uploaded.

The commission’s Result Stats section showed the figures changing as additional results were uploaded, with users able to refresh the page for updates.

As of press time, only a fraction of the expected results had been uploaded, with the pace of uploads expected to increase as collation progresses at ward and local government levels.
