The Orunto of Owu Kingdom, Chief Abiodun Lasile, is set to launch a digital platform dedicated to showcasing the customs, traditions, and history of the Owu Kingdom and beyond.
Orunto Owu Abeokuta (https://oruntoowuabeokuta.org.ng) will go live on April 1, 2025, serving as a hub for cultural enthusiasts, researchers, and members of the Owu community.
It will offer historical narratives, traditional practices, and contemporary updates.
Speaking ahead of the launch, Chief Abiodun Lasile said, “Our heritage is our strength, and it is our responsibility to pass it down to future generations”.
“This platform will be a treasure trove of knowledge, a place where our customs and values are documented and celebrated.”
“The website will feature exclusive articles, archival photographs, oral histories, and interactive forums where individuals can engage in discussions about Owu traditions”.
“It will also serve as a resource for scholars and cultural enthusiasts interested in the historical and socio-political contributions of the Owu people”, he stated.
April 1st marks a historic milestone as a long-held vision takes flight. What began as a publication has evolved into a dynamic online platform converging information, enlightenment, entertainment, and education.
“This initiative extends my advocacy for reading culture, propelling enrichment through the internet to a broader audience”.
