The Member representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency, Hon. Amobi Godwin Ogah, Minister of Education Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, Arc. Sonny Echono, and Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, are among eminent Nigerians to be honoured at the 2026 Education Summit organised by the Education Correspondents Association of Nigeria (ECAN).
The summit, scheduled for Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at Barcelona Hotel, Wuse II, Abuja, is themed: “Three Years of the Tinubu Administration: Assessing Reforms, Progress, and Challenges in Nigeria’s Education Sector.”
According to a statement issued on Monday by ECAN Chairman, Mr. Chux Ukwuatu, the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, will declare the summit open and lead discussions on the achievements, reforms and challenges in Nigeria’s education sector under the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
The event is expected to attract policymakers, heads of education agencies, academics, development partners, school administrators, researchers, civil society organisations, student bodies and media professionals to evaluate the impact of the administration’s education reforms and identify strategies for addressing the sector’s remaining challenges.
Other award recipients include the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission, Prof. Abdullahi Ribadu, and the Registrar of the National Examinations Council, Prof. Ibrahim Wushishi, among other distinguished stakeholders in the education sector.
ECAN said the awards are in recognition of the recipients’ visionary leadership, exceptional contributions to educational development and unwavering commitment to advancing human capital development in Nigeria.
The association added that the summit will also provide a platform for robust policy dialogue on the progress of education reforms under the Tinubu administration and the way forward for strengthening the nation’s education system.
