***** Commends men of the Force for successes Recorded so Far Nationwide
The Inspector General of Police IGP Olukayode Egbetokun on Tuesday charged all Strategic Police Managers to be proactive in order to be multiple steps ahead of criminal elements in the society whose main aim is to cause instability in different parts of the country.
IGP Egbetokun stated this in Abuja when he met with strategic Police Managers from the rank of commissioners of Police and above.
Speaking during his opening remarks at the conference, IGP Egbetokun thanked the Senior Police Officers for the roles they have all played in maintaining law and order in the country especially during the trying time of protest and other violent crimes.
In his words, ” Today, we convene to collaboratively review our performance and the significant national events since our last meeting in July. Our agenda is to pinpoint upcoming challenges and craft empirically based solutions, particularly focusing on the Ondo State offseason election and various local government elections across the country.
” I want to begin by expressing my deep appreciation for your unwavering dedication to maintaining law and order throughout our nation. I fully recognize the complex and demanding security environment in which you operate, as well as the daily challenges you encounter in fulfilling your duties. I acknowledge the rigorous work schedules and the risks you face to address these challenges, often compounded by a notable lack of resources. Your commitment to fostering a safer Nigerian society and your significant contributions to our criminal justice system have been remarkable and clearly impactful.
” As officers of the Nigeria Police Force, we fully understand the magnitude of our duty to protect lives, property, and uphold the rule of law. Despite the myriad challenges we face, our collective strength and resilience have never been more crucial. Entrusted by the Nigerian populace with their safety and by the government with maintaining law and order, we hold a sacred trust that we must diligently honor every day
” As I mentioned earlier, today’s meeting serves not only to reflect on our recent accomplishments but also to decisively plan our next steps. As we continue our efforts to combat crime and criminality across Nigeria, it is imperative that we remain proactive and visionary. Our role in the country’s internal security framework is vital; we must lead by example”
Speaking of efforts made so far to ensure internal security nationwide by the Police, IGP Egbetokun says ” recent statistics indicate a substantial decrease in crime rates in key areas, including significant strides in combating violent crimes such as banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery, and cybercrime.”
” From July to October this year, the Nigeria Police Force successfully rescued three hundred and sixty-nine (369) kidnapped victims, recovered four hundred and sixteen (416) firearms of various makes, retrieved one hundred and seventy-eight (178) vehicles, and seized three thousand six hundred and seventy-two (3,672) rounds of ammunition of different calibers.
” Additionally, a total of ten thousand eight hundred and fifty-two (10,852) suspects were arrested across the country
