The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the results of 632,788 candidates who participated in the first day of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) held on Thursday, April 16.
The Board disclosed that candidates can now check their results via SMS by sending “UTMERESULT” to 55019 or 66019 using the same phone number used during registration.
JAMB noted that, for now, candidates are only able to view their results, as printing of result slips is yet to commence.
In a statement issued by its Public Communication Advisor, Fabian Benjamin, the Board warned candidates against any attempt to manipulate or falsify their results. It stressed that altering SMS result notifications to mislead parents or the public constitutes a criminal offence.
The examination body further revealed that two candidates and one parent are already in custody for allegedly engaging in result falsification using artificial intelligence and other electronic means.
JAMB reiterated its commitment to maintaining the integrity of the examination process, stating that any candidate found guilty of malpractice would face the full weight of the law.
The Board added that the 2026 UTME is still ongoing, and results for subsequent days will be released in batches as they are processed.
