The political atmosphere in Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency has taken a fresh turn following strong reactions from the camp of Amobi Godwin Ogah to recent comments made by Eze Chikamnanyo.
In a statement issued by his media aide, Engr. Elem Chukwuemeka, the lawmaker’s team described Chikamnanyo’s remarks as “desperate media outbursts” aimed at reviving the political fortunes of former House of Representatives member, Nkiru Onyejiocha.
The statement emphasized that the mandate given to Ogah in the 2023 general elections remains firm and cannot be undermined by what it termed “political distractions.” According to the release, the electorate in Isuikwuato and Umunneochi made a decisive choice by electing Ogah under the Labour Party, signaling a shift from what it described as years of stagnation.
Ogah’s camp further argued that any attempt to challenge that mandate through media campaigns amounts to disregarding the will of the people. It also criticized Chikamnanyo’s past role in Abia State’s previous administration, alleging that his association with that era weakens his credibility to comment on current governance.
The statement also linked Chikamnanyo’s actions to what it called an effort to reintroduce Onyejiocha into the political scene, noting that her tenure had already been rejected by voters during the last election cycle.
Despite the ongoing political exchanges, the statement maintained that Ogah remains focused on legislative duties at the National Assembly. It highlighted his priorities to include improving security, advancing grassroots empowerment, and providing effective representation for constituents.
“The seat representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency is not vacant,” the statement read, adding that no amount of media criticism would displace a representative who enjoys the trust of his people.
The release concluded by reiterating that Ogah is committed to delivering democratic dividends and will not be distracted by what it described as attempts to gain relevance through political attacks.
