President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the immediate arrest of Prince George Buchi Nwabueze over the alleged operation of a fake government agency within the premises of the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF).
The President also directed the immediate suspension of three permanent secretaries following fresh findings by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) in its investigation into alleged fake government agencies and weaknesses in public service processes.
ICPC Chairman, Dr Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, disclosed the development on Friday while briefing State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Aliyu said the commission uncovered another alleged unauthorised office operating within the OSGF premises, identified as the National Brands Development and Made in Nigeria Special Project Office.
According to him, the office was allegedly allocated space within the OSGF without presidential approval.
The ICPC chairman said the discovery was made during the commission’s wider investigation into the activities of the alleged fake Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) and other weaknesses in government procedures.
He alleged that Nwabueze, who reportedly operated under different variations of his name, promoted the National Brands Development and Made in Nigeria Special Project Office.
The commission further alleged that the operation had the involvement of suspected collaborators within the OSGF.
Aliyu said the ICPC subsequently engaged officials of the OSGF to obtain information and documents concerning the office before presenting its findings to President Tinubu.
“Following the briefing, Mr President directed the immediate arrest of Prince George Buchi Nwabueze,” he said.
The ICPC chairman also disclosed that Tinubu ordered the immediate suspension of three permanent secretaries identified as M.S. Danjuma, Nadungu Gagare and Richard P. Pheelangwah.
Aliyu said the investigation remains ongoing, warning that additional measures could be taken as the commission uncovers more facts.
The latest development follows the President’s directive for an investigation into the alleged operation of the fake PFIPC and comes amid heightened scrutiny of unauthorised entities operating within government institutions.
The ICPC has been examining how such entities allegedly secured access to government premises, operated without proper authorisation and interacted with public officials.
Aliyu commended President Tinubu for ordering a forensic audit of government processes, describing the move as a proactive measure to strengthen accountability and close loopholes that could facilitate abuse within the public service.
He said the commission would continue to pursue the investigation and take appropriate action based on its findings.
