Hon. Minister of Foreign Affairs (State) Appoints Nze Magnus Eze as Special Assistant on Communications and New Media
The Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs (State), Iyom Bianca Ojukwu, has appointed Mr. Nze Magnus Eze of The Sun Newspaper as her Special Assistant on Communications and New Media.
Eze, who previously served as the South East Bureau Chief of The Sun Newspaper, brings to the role decades of media experience and an extensive network of contacts.
In a letter of appointment dated January 8, 2025, and signed by Ambassador Bello Kazaure Husseini, Director of Administration at the ministry, the appointment was confirmed, emphasizing the critical role Eze is expected to play in advancing the ministry’s strategic communication objectives.
As the Special Assistant on Communications and New Media, Eze will be instrumental in promoting the foreign policy agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. This policy framework, known as the 4-Ds—Democracy, Development, Demography, and Diaspora—places strategic communication at the heart of its execution.
Born on June 25, 1969, in Mgbom N’Achara, Okposi, Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Nze Magnus Eze has cultivated a stellar career in journalism over nearly three decades.
He began his educational journey at Ikwuano Primary School, Mgbom Okposi, before moving on to Eziokposi High School, where he was among the first set of students, completing his secondary education in 1987.
Eze holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Arts from the University of Uyo (1992) and a Master’s degree in Mass Communication from Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), where he is also pursuing a doctorate. He completed his national service at the Mass Communication Department of Ogun State Polytechnic, now Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, before joining Newswatch Magazine.
Throughout his career, he has held various key roles, including Editor of Newsday Newspaper (2004-2006), Deputy Editor of Newsworld Magazine, and Regional Correspondent for South Africa-based AU Media. Until his new appointment, he served as Assistant Editor and South East Bureau Chief of The Sun Newspaper.
Beyond journalism, Eze has made significant contributions to his community. In 2014, he founded The Mezie Okposi Organization, which includes Mezie Okposi Multipurpose Cooperative Society, Mezie Okposi Charities, and the Okposi Geriatric Project.
This organization has made notable impacts in youth empowerment, cultural preservation, leadership training, and community service.
Eze is married to Anenechi, and together they are blessed with five children.
Iyom Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu is an accomplished diplomat, lawyer, and former beauty queen, widely recognized for her eloquence and commitment to public service. She served as Nigeria’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain and the country’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
As the wife of the late Biafran leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, she has been a prominent advocate for national unity, democracy, and good governance. Her appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs (State) underlines her dedication to fostering Nigeria’s international relations and advancing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s foreign policy agenda.
