The Radio, Television, Theatre, and Arts Workers Union (RATTAWU), Ogun State Council, regrets to announce the passing of its former Chairman, Comrade Benjamin Adebowale Oluwaseyi Akinwunmi (BAO).
Comrade Akinwunmi, who also served as Chairman of RATTAWU at both Chapel and State level, was born on July 3rd, 1959.
He dedicated his life to the service of the union and the broadcasting profession.
Widely known for his professionalism and passion, Comrade Akinwunmi was a man of many talents. He rose to the position of Chief Cameraman at OGTV, where he earned the affectionate nickname “African CNN” for his dedication and skill.
The State Chairman of RATTAWU, Comrade Gbenga Fagbenro, described the news of his death as a rude shock.
According to a release signed by Comrade Kunle Idowu, The publicity Secretary, RATTAWU Ogun State Council, Mr Debo Akinwunmi reportedly passed away in the early hours of Monday, after being rushed for emergency treatment at the Federal Medical Center, Abeokuta.
His passing marks a great loss not only to his family and friends but also to the entire RATTAWU community and the OGTV family.
He will be remembered for his humility, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to the union’s cause.
We pray that the Almighty grants his family, RATTAWU Ogun State Council, and the OGTV staff the strength and courage to bear this irreparable loss.
