Ogun State Government has been commended for its assessment visit to assess level of worship centers’ preparedness on reopening, after several weeks of lockdown to contain the spread of Covid-19.
Receiving the taskforce during a visit to the Redemption Camp, headquarters of Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCGG), Assistant General Overseer, Administration and Personnel, Pastor Johnson Odesola, described the visit as apt, as churches were getting set to worship God under strict Covid-19 guidelines, come August 14, when worship centers was expected to reopen.
“We want to appreciate Ogun State Government for thinking about the people’s well-being, that is why the delegate has come to assess the level of compliance. We deeply appreciate this gesture and as a responsible entity, the RCCG has never flouted any government instruction”, he said.
He assured government’s of the mega-church’s continued support towards achieving good governance in all facets of human existence.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker, who led other members of the taskforce to the worship center, acknowledged that the measures put in place was in tandem with laid-down Covid-19 specific guidelines, reiterating that the present administration would continue to monitor strict adherence of congregants, as well as other centers across the state, as soon as worship centers reopens.
“Today, we are here with my colleagues to ascertain the Mega-church’s level of preparedness amidst the pandemic. We have seen the measures put in place for social distancing, regular washing of hands and how the church intends to monitor the compulsory wearing of facemasks by congregants, as well as plans on fumigation and other strict guidelines. What we have seen would be conveyed to the Governor for necessary action”, she added.
Other members of the taskforce on the visit were; the State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, TPL. Tunji Odunlami, his Culture and Tourism counterpart, Dr. Toyin Taiwo and Environment, Hon. Abiodun Abudu- Balogun, as well as the Special Advisers to the Governor on Health, Dr. Tayo Lawal and Public Communication, Hon. Remi Hassan.
