Withdrawal of participation and support.

This is to formally inform the organisers and the general public that our party has withdrawn her support for, and participation at this event scheduled for Saturday, February 27, 2021.

We welcomed the idea of an all Nigerian political parties’ in the diaspora organised conference to bring together experts to share insights into the security challenges facing Nigeria and proffer possible solutions.

We are however disappointed that despite our well thought out patriotic interventions to ensure that this programme was focused on proffering solutions, the organisers have gone out to attempt to push agendas that are outside the scope of this conference and most importantly sending out of flyers without consultation or discussions with us.

For example, we find the circulation of a flyer with the Nigerian map dripping in blood not only offensive but also grossly unpatriotic, in bad taste and a negative framing of a country we care deeply about. Moreover, this was a flyer, we raised objections about when we first sighted it and before it was meant to have been circulated.

In view of the above and other infractions, we in the APC Diaspora chairmen Forum announce our withdrawal of support and participation at this event.

We affirm that as a political party group, we believe in the art of cross party interactions, discussions, debate and solution driven relationship in contributing to resolving national challenges. It was in this spirit that we accepted to be involved in the organising of the above conference.  And the least we expected was transparent consultation before key decisions were implemented. This has not been the case. Whilst we ensured open, transparent and trusting approach, we were left with getting information already sent out to the public.

We believe that Nigeria’s problems can be resolved by Nigerians only when respect and trust become enduring pillars in our political relationships both amongst the political leadership class, and most importantly, between the people and political leaders.
