Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, CON, has emerged Patron of the Forum of Chief Executive Officers of Federal Government parastatals, with the platform seeking to deepen collaboration and knowledge-sharing among heads of government agencies.
Akume assumed the role following a courtesy visit by members of the Forum, led by the Chairman and Director General/CEO of the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI), Dr Kazeem Kolawole Raji.
The engagement provided an avenue for the Forum to present its vision and objectives to the SGF, particularly its plans to promote stronger institutional cooperation among federal agencies and parastatals.
Raji said the Forum was conceived as a platform for chief executives to share experiences, exchange professional knowledge and adopt best practices capable of improving public-sector service delivery.
He noted that closer interaction among the heads of federal institutions could help reduce institutional silos and strengthen coordination in the implementation of government programmes.
The Forum said Akume’s acceptance of the patronage would provide members with institutional guidance and benefit from his experience in public administration and coordination of government affairs.
Beyond its institutional objectives, the Forum also disclosed plans to engage Nigerians ahead of the 2027 presidential election in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
According to the Forum, such engagement would be conducted through lawful, peaceful, ethical and issue-based communication, with emphasis on explaining government policies and programmes and providing avenues for citizens to give feedback.
The CEOs said they intend to utilise the wide institutional reach and professional networks of their respective agencies to promote greater public awareness and collaboration around government programmes.
The Forum further stressed the importance of discipline, responsible communication and effective coordination in achieving its objectives.
The meeting ended with the Forum expressing appreciation to the SGF for receiving its delegation and accepting the position of Patron, describing his experience and guidance as valuable to the continued development of the platform.
