Ahead of 2023 as the South South battles the screening of its aspirants just as other regions in Nigeria did, the indication in one of the richest states in the country is of the big players, former governors, incumbent governor and a former minister that has been on the trail longer than any other Aspirants.

The Delta State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is having a big plate of intrigues and schemes with many aspirants backed directly by political godfathers while few are keeping the bigwigs closer even as they battles the system alone.

The battle for the region’s screening took place in Port Harcourt, River State capital. Governor Diri of Bayelsa was the chairman of the screening committee, and conducted the exercise on Thursday at the PDP zonal office.

To calm the nerves of aspirants, Senator Diri told all the aspirants and their followers, the committee’s commitment to a transparent execution and fair dealings to all.

2023 Aspirants as Contenders
They are Kingsley Otuaro, Deputy Governor; Barr. Kenneth Gbagi, former Minister of State for Education; Mr. David Edevbie, former commissioner and ex-chief of staff to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa; Embattled Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Speaker of the state House of Assembly; Braduce Angozi, Bright Edejeghw, Ejaife Odebala, James Manager, Emmanuel Aguariavwodo, James Augoye, Peter Mrakpor, Fred Majemite, and others.

Screened and certified for the Delta State PDP governorship slot as aspirant till the next few weeks when the primaries will be executed and well noted for many months’ networking is Barrister Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi, Ex-Minister of State for Education, who after the screening heads to Oginibo in Ughelli South Local Government will hold meetings with his campaign organisation teams across the state, from Sunday to further streamline their strategies to gather and secure the largest number of delegates.

The challenges in Delta is between the old governors, the Olowa government and those that have been in the forefront of keeping PDP as one family from inception.

They argued that PDP is intact and have been winning elections due their commitments and services to the party. The old governors knows that only a genuined strong and a person tested in human development, entrepreneurship and global understanding of economic gains will do.
