As part of effort to make Nigerian Roads safe and better in the nearest future, minister of works, Arc Mike Onolememen had said the ministry is currently executing 184 road projects across the country
The Minister stated this in Abuja, at the third year ministerial press briefing on the achievements of president Goodluck Ebele Jonathan administration in the transformation of road sector in Nigeria
While presenting his speech, Arc Mike Onolememen said despite the daunting challenges in revenue inflow experienced since 2011, that the ministry has completed a total of 62 federal road projects nationwide
He also listed some of the social challenges in the road sector which includes Axle load of trucks beyond acceptable tonnage, indiscrimination cutting across the highways, burning of tyres on the road, illegal erection of bumps on roads, destruction of road furniture and many more
According to him ” in recent times, most federal highway bridges across the country have suffered severe damages as a result of the security challenges in the North-Eastern part of the country as well as accidents involving petroleum laden delivery trucks and other heavy duty vehicles.
