Ogun State Governor ,Prince Dapo Abiodun has advised the people of the state to inculcate the habit of maintenance ,cleaning and protecting public facilities,with particular emphasis on the prompt clearing and evacuation of debris that may hamper the free flow of water in culverts and drainages .
Governor Abiodun ,who gave the advise while inspecting the commencement of Asphalt laying on the 18km Siun- Ogere-Iperu road to ascertian the level of progress made by the newly created Public Works Agency (PWA)on the deplorable portion of the road network linking other routes in the state ,said he was impressed by the progress made so far.
“Our adminstration would not relent in its resolve to repair all the bad portion of the road across the state and possibly reconstruct new ones as the case may be.I enjoin the people to reciprocate government’s gesture by being responsive to the prompt clearing of drainages and culverts to avert erosion ,which may ultimately damage the ashpalted roads in the long run”he added
He maintained that when the citizens contribute their quota ,it will definitely spur the government to do more revealing that palliative and rebuilding works had commenced in earnest covering some roads in the
Senatorial Districts of the state namely ,Obantoko- Odeda road, Abeokuta- Sango road and Ijebu-Ode-Epe road amongst many others.
Also speaking, the Project Manager in charge , Engineer Alexander Mazooya, said major asphalting work had already began after the rains had subsided, promising that other roads badly affected across the state would be touched and made motorable for the people.
It would be recalled that the major asphalting of road networks commenced three days after signing into law the establishment of the Public Works Agency(PWA)
