The Nigeria Minister of information Labaran Maku has urged all politicians to desist from the act of making inciting statements that could destroy Nigeria as a single entity because of electoral fortune in 2015, describing it as disgraceful for politicians to issue un verified statements about President Goodluck Jonathan and the Federal Government.
The Minister said this during the World Press conference held in Abuja Nigeria to review the activities and achievements of the Federal Government in 2013.
While presenting the scorecard for the year 2013 the minister said that the current administration under President Goodluck Jonathan has done so well for the Nigerian Economy in terms of Agriculture, Power, Massive road construction, transportation,Aviation, youth Empowerment through the YouWin programme and in other sectors.
In the areas of trade and investment the minister said, the Implementation of a National Industrial Skills Development Programme, targeting 500,000 youths annually from 2013 is a huge plus for this government. ” The federal Government Created special windows of financing Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in collaboration with SME desks of commercial banks. Today, small scale industrialists can access funding, under special conditions, at single digit interest rate and there are special funding schemes for women, mechanics, etc.
We have also Repositioned the Weights and Measures Department of the ministry to entrench fair-trading, both domestic and internationally, and give consumers value for their spending. He said
In the area of transportation, the minister said that when the railway system that is under construction is fully operational, some of the transportation challenges in Nigeria will be a thing of the past. emphasising that the movement of Goods and farm produce will be easier and more convenient.
