Chairman, Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offenses Commission, ICPC, Barr. Ekpo Nta has warned public office holders not to live above their income as the commission had the mandate of interim seizure of any public officer’s property that live above the accurable income and could not be explained
ICPC Chairman gave the warning in Uyo at an Akwa Ibom State Anti-Corruption summit organised by the commission in partnership with the state government.
Ekpo Nta said the issue of corruption must be addressed from the foundation of governance, in terms of economic policies targeted at solving the problems of the common man.
The summit was aimed at sensitizing and building the capical of critical stakeholders, including senior government officials, legislators, Judicialy officers, traditional institutions, local government officials among others, in Akwa Ibom on the ils of corruption and mobilizing their support for the war against corruption in the country
The ICPC boss noted that the commission will stop at nothing to have contravened the anti-corruption crusade to book.
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel while calling on all to be in the vanguard of curbing the menance of corruption if the country must move forward noted that corruption had eaten deep into the fabrics of the Nigerian System.
Speaker, of the State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Onofiok Luke in a goodwill message salutes the level of transparency promoted by the state executive and also attributed the current corruption-free environment in the state to the fact that the state legislators and the Judiciary were not found wanting in their checks and balances responsibility.
The theme of the summit is Transparency and Accountability; Apanacea to good governance and sustainable development.
