The Nigerian Governors Forum has condemned the suspension of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria saying it was a diversionary tactics by President Goodluck Jonathan to cover up alleged missing funds from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation account.
The condemnation was contain in a communique issued at the end of the forum meeting in Abuja this morning.
The communique which was read by the chairman of the forum and the Rivers state Governor Rotimi Amaechi support the call of minister of finance Ngozi Okonjo Iweala and the senate committee on Finance for a forensic audit of the NNPC Account.
The Governor Forum also raised concern about alleged deliberate refusal of the presidency to convene the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting for seven months as it called on the Supreme Court to accelerate the hearing on the constitutional cases especially the case of the excess crude account and illegal deductions on oil subsidy.
Speaking on the activities of Boko Haram, Rotimi Amaechi led Governor forum asked Presidency to wake up to its responsibility of protecting lives and property in the country.
Governor Amaechi also accused the Presidency of plotting to illegally impeach the Governor of Nasarawa state , Umaru Tanko Al- Makura.
Correspondent Muywa Bamidele reports that the Governor forum meeting was attended by eight state governors and three deputy governors, they includes Babatunde Fashola , Lagos, Kayode Fayemi Ekiti, Rabiu Kwankwaso , Kano, Murtala Nyako Adamawa , Tanko Al Makura , Nasarawa state, Rochas Okorocha, Imo state, Aliyu Wamakko of sokoto and three from Edo, Osun and Borno states.
