SECURITY CHALLENGES: President. Buhari Charges organised private sector to complement Government’s Efforts.
President Muhammadu Buhari has called on the private sector to complement government’s efforts in the fight against crimes and other security challenges in order to consolidate on the change agenda as there can’t be any meaningful progress without the security of lives and properties in any nation.
Speaking during the National Security Summit organised by the Nigerian Police Force in Conjunction with Leadership Newspaper Groups said over the years the organised private sector has not participated fully in efforts aimed at securing their immediate environment.
President Buhari who was Represented by the minister of interior Abdulraman Dambazau said that the federal Government is aware of the challenges of shortage of personnel in the Nigeria Police Force and also used the medium to assure that the Government is working hard to ensure that the situation becomes better.
Speaking on the need to walk the talk the ooni of Ife Dr. Adeyeye ogunwusi and the sultan of Sokoto Dr. Sa’ad Abubakar emphasised that National security must be placed above individual liberty Stressing that organising multiple security summit will not be of any effect if our attitude does not reflect brotherliness.
On his part Speaking on the theme Forging Partnership for effective strategies to curb The Menace of Kidnapping, Recurring Farmers -Herders Clashes and criminality , Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom who spoke unbehalf of other state governors noted that the adoption of ranches in cattle rearing as it is in other developed and developing countries will reduce the friction between Farmers and herdsmen.
Speaking earlier the inspector general of police IGP Ibraheem IDRIS said the force will need about 155, 000 police officers to be recruited for effective policing of the Nigeria space.
