As part of his welfare programme for Officers and Men of the Nigeria Police Force, The Acting Inspector General of Police IGP Suleiman Abba has said that he will do every thing within his power to ensure that there in an improvement in the standard of living of of Officers and Men of the Force.
Suleiman Abba said this during the inspection visit to The Mohammed Abubakar Police Barracks Dei Dei, the Largest Police Barracks in the FCT, to access the state of facilities in the Barracks and the possible ways to improve on them.
Speaking during the inspection of the Police Hospital in the barrack, IGP Suleiman said that the hospital will be expanded to cater for more people within and outside the barracks ” this facility will be expanded so that even members of the public from the surrounding satellite towns can come here to receives medical treatments”
At the POWA skill acquisition centre, the IGP said that Efforts will be doubled so as to make sure that the centre is completed and is opened for operation as soon as possible, emphasizing that when in full operation, the centre will take care of youth Restiveness which is a major factor that lures youth into crime and criminality. ” this centre when completed will train youths and artisans in different crafts which will in turn address to a large extent the Un-employment challenges facing the Nation, it will not only be for families of police officers, but for the general public who might be interested in learning one craft or the other.” He noted.
While commissioning The Main gate of the Barracks, the IGP promised the women who came out in their numbers that efforts are on the way to make sure that the internal roads within the Police Barracks are tarred to ease movement of goods and services in and out of the barracks.
He therefore urged officers and men of the force who make use of these facilities to see to it that it is not abused overtime, calling on them to help in the maintenance of Facilities within and around their premises.
