Nigeria celebrates her 59th Independence anniversary on 1st October 2019. This is the National Day of Nigeria. It marks independence from British rule on 1 October 1960.

Olusegun Mathew Okikiola Aremu Obasanjo, GCFR, Ph.D. is a former Nigerian Army general who was President of Nigeria from 1999 to 2007. Born: 5 March 1937 (age 82 years), in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria. Presidential term: 29 May 1999 – 29 May 2007

 

Muhammadu Buhari GCFR is a Nigerian is a former Head of State from 31 December 1983 to 27 August 1985. A politician currently serving as the President of Nigeria, in office since 2015. He is a retired major general in the Nigerian, after taking power in a military coup d’état. Born: 17 December 1942 (age 76 years), Daura, Katsina State, Nigeria

 

Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a Nigerian politician who was elected senator for the Lagos West Constituency in Lagos State, Nigeria in 1993. The election was just prior to a military take-over in December 1993. He served two terms as the Governor of Lagos from 1999 to 2007. Founding Father of the Ruling Party (APC). Born: 29 March 1952 (age 67 years), Lagos, Nigeria

 

Atiku Abubakar GCON is a Nigerian politician, businessman, philanthropist and presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party at the 2019 Nigerian general election. He served as the 11th vice-president of Nigeria from 1999 to 2007 under the presidency of Olusegun Obasanjo. Born: 25 November 1946 (age 72 years), Jada, Adamawa State, Nigeria

 

Orji Uzor Kalu. He is the chairman of SLOK Holding and the Daily Sun and New Telegraph newspapers in Nigeria, who served as the governor of Abia State, Nigeria from May 29, 1999, to May 29, 2007. He is an elected Senator in Nigeria from 2019 to 2023. Born: 21 April 1960 (age 59 years), Abia, Nigeria

 

Ike Ekweremadu is a Nigerian politician and lawyer from Enugu State who has served in the Senate of Nigeria since May 2003. He is a member of the People’s Democratic Party and was the Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate for three consecutive periods. Born: 12 May 1962 (age 57 years).

 

Malam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai is a Nigerian politician and was the former Director General of Bureau of Public Enterprises, the head of privatisation agency in Nigeria. He was the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja from 16 July 2003 to 29 May 2007. He is the Governor of Kaduna State, since 2015. Nigeria. Born: 16 February 1960 (age 59 years), Daudawa, Kaduna State Nigeria.

 

Olubukola Abubakar Saraki is a former President of Nigeria’s Senate and Governor of Kwara State under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party from 2003 to 2011. He lost the senatorial seat in the 2019 election. Born: 19 December 1962 (age 56 years)

 

Ibikunle Amosun is a Nigerian politician who was elected senator for the Ogun Central district of Ogun State, Nigeria in April 2003. He ran for governor in 2011, and was elected on the Action Congress of Nigeria platform.  He is now elected again as Senator 2019 to 2023. Born: 25 January 1958 (age 61 years), Abeokuta, Ogun State Nigeria

 

Ezenwo Nyesom Wike CON, is a Nigerian politician and lawyer who is the sixth and current Governor of Rivers State. Prior to been elected was a Minister of Education in Nigeria. Born: 24 August 1967 (age 52 years), Obio/Akpor, River State, Nigeria
