Former world champion boxer Nigel Benn will explain how he was set free from drink, drugs and depression, through a dramatic encounter with Jesus, at a Christian men’s event at the DW Stadium in Wigan, November 1st.
Benn, who was known as the Dark Destroyer in his boxing prime, will share how his life spiralled out of control to the point of attempted suicide. But when his family moved to Australia his life was turned around after a life-changing experiencing with Jesus while visiting Hillsong Church. From that point on he was set free from addictions and he’s now an active volunteer in the church helping to restore men facing their own family issues.
During the dinner evening Nigel will be interviewed by Simon Paul Edwards the founder of Walk Ministries, who is also the man behind We Are Men United taking place at Stoke Football Club next May.
“We’re so delighted to have Nigel Benn join us when we believe many people will be impacted by hearing his life-changing story,” explains Stuart Jones President of the Wigan Chapter of Business Men’s Fellowship, who are hosting the event.
He added: “This is an amazing opportunity to hear from such a well-known sports personality, how he lived his life before and leading up to his conversion with anecdotes from his sporting and DJ career. Then to hear the change his faith has made in his life since his conversion.
“At the end of the evening we hope people will have a clearer understanding of the reality of this faith in Jesus and give them an opportunity to make this change themselves.”
This special dinner evening with Nigel Benn takes place at Wigan’s DW Stadium at 7:30pm November 1st. Tickets just £15. To find out more go to: http://www.bmf-uk.com/
