Most nations have their dates for BHM celebration. The UK dedicates October as Black History Month. This Great Britain’s celebration aims to promote and celebrate Black-descendants’ contributions to national understanding, individual and organisational inputs and to foster an diverse positive understanding of the people’s history. It was started in the USA back in the 1920s.
Whist the UK is going through the BREXIT discussion and negotiation, the event was hosted in Downing Street by the Prime Minister’s office on 10 October 2019. The event has in attendance various communities, companies, charities and leaders.
However, the Prime Minister Boris Johnson could not make it due to the day’s powerful meeting that went beyond expected time with the Irish Leader on the BREXIT and was ably represented by Chancellor Sajid Javid.
BHM is about the achievements, sacrifice, challenges and opportunities available and faced. No10 is situated in the Heart of London. London is a city made by various ethnic nationalities and its diversity and multiculturalism for now is second to none.
The chancellor called and shared the contribution of the Black and Ethnic nationalities in the development of the nation. He informed the people that the government is working hard to support more BME business to succeed in their ventures and sees entrepreneurship as a contributing factor to many of the successful stories within the communities.
