The Nigeria Senate has dismissed the call by the main opposition party, All Progressives Congress (APC) that the National Assembly should commence impeachment proceedings against President Goodluck Jonathan.
The Chairman of Senate Committee on Media, Information and Public Affairs, Enyinnaya Abaribe (PDP-Abia), said at a news conference in Abuja that the call was “utter rubbish”.
The senate spokesperson said during the executive session, the senators discussed matters of urgent national importance.
Also speaking on the proposed 2014 budget, Abaribe said both Senate and the House of Representatives have met and to resolve all the controversies surrounding the bench mark of crude oil sales that will drive the budget.
According the senate spokesman the National Assembly is ready to receive the 2014 Budget presentation from President Goodluck Jonathan.
It would be recalled that 2014 Budget presentation to National Assembly by President Jonathan was put on hold following inability of the two chambers of the Assembly to agree on a common bench mark of the crude oil sales.
