Today, Nigeria is one of the top ten kidnapping countries and although i welcome your firm view to eradicate kidnapping; it is critical to highlight that the government must lead by example on matters of kidnapping/abduction.
Deputy Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, Sir Craig Mackey, spoke today about the Met’s commitment to tackling knife crime in the capital following the murders of four young people over the New Year period.
He said: “Millions of Londoners celebrated New Year’s Eve peacefully and safely, but four families who lost loves ones in violent circumstances got the worst news imaginable and our thoughts remain with them and everyone affected by what has taken place.
“This number of violent deaths in any 24-hour period is highly unusual, and detectives are working around the clock to bring those responsible to justice.
“We have made arrests in two of these cases, with active lines of enquiry in each of the investigations being pursued. We would urge anybody who has any information about these murders that might assist detectives to contact police.
“Tackling serious violence and knife crime in London remains a number one priority for the Met, but Londoners need to pull together to tackle this issue.
“From community weapon sweeps, proactive operations that happen daily and engagement with schools, Met officers are working 24 hours a day, 365 days a year as part of our firm commitment to reducing knife crime amongst young people. The success of Operation Winter Nights saw more than 350 weapons seized in November and December.
“We need to find out why some young people think it is acceptable to carry knives, and this is where community organisations and local initiatives, charities, schools and educators, youth workers and families all have an important role to play in changing this mindset.
“We can all do more to protect young people, and I would urge anybody who has information about those engaged in violent crime to speak to police. Your call could help save a life.”
Please permit me to enjoin more Nigerians to gear more efforts towards resetting the mental derailment in some quarters amongst Nigerians.
I’ve come to realize that Nigerians who still believes PDP/APC/Buhari has anything to offer Nigeria simply needs our help and not exchange of typographical cannons.
It is getting clearer now that most of them and their Brothers, Sisters Uncles/Aunties are are still hopeful of Board appointments, all these emergency appointments are merely to increase the number of drooling sycophants that will continue to openly ridicule themselves in the face of glaring realities of failures by defending the indefensible.
Nigeria was NEVER meant to work due to the warped Presidential system which simply makes the President over powerful and does NOTHING meaningful with those powers apart from satisfying personal fulfilments and creating emergency billionaires and millionaires as Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan once openly boasted, billionaires without any traceable line of business, employees or known products and services.. more billionaires are presently being made in the current dispensation as Governors, Legislators, through various appointments as ministers, Board Chairs and memberships who all corners public funds meant to better the lots of all of us and we kept deceiving ourselves that APC is better than PDP.
Board appointments at states and federal levels are simply arranged sharing formular for party loyalists and supporters and not for any meaningful development to serve the interest of the Nation.
My major grouse is with elderly Nigerians who are expected to be able to say things the way it is but decides to do otherwise, probably because they are still hopeful of Board Appointments or had one time or the other held public/elected offices, and those who had not are still waiting for their turn.
It is high time we all started THINKING and ACTING first and foremost as NIGERIANS rather than supporting any self-serving political interests by claiming to be APC or PDP.
My sincere gratitude to all candid, fearless and courageous Nigerians who does not have their tails in between their hinds, who steadily and constantly attacks the conscience of our political profiteers who parades themselves as leaders, through their write ups and open presentations.
I want to implore us to put more efforts this new year with the convictions that the Nigeria of our dreams and aspirations is very much nearer than we thought.
I want to task Nigerians to get more prepared to embrace the current winds of positive changes blowing across the globe with the most recent experience in Liberia.
We should not be intimidated by the stolen wealth of our politicians, many younger and credible Nigerians are ready to mount the stage to contest for the most exalted office in Nigeria and we should not be deterred from voting our conscience.
The stolen monies can not cast votes to re-elect the corrupt politicians, their stolen monies can only transform to votes if we all want to further enslave ourselves by allowing their monies to determine how we cast our ballots.
The Nigeria of our dreams can only be achieved by our collective efforts and determination.
Those who snatch ballot boxes and rig elections for politicians are Nigerians.
Those who can change Nigeria for good are Nigerians.
A wise man seeth trouble from afar and do everything to avert such trouble.
With all the past and unfolding events from 2015 till 31st December 2017 coupled with several inconsistencies, it is absolutely obvious that this government has NOTHING to offer this country and the time to begin rooting for alternative is NOW.
I wish everyone of us Buharists, Non-Buharists, and indifferent Nigerians a very Happy and fulfilling New Year 2018.
A new Nigeria is possible.
Let’s reset Nigeria.
God Bless Nigeria.
