The Oluwo of Iwo Land, Emperor AbdulRashid Olawale Akanbi has revealed that his emergence as the Oluwo of Iwo land automatically makes him the King of the black nations or the father of the black race.
Speaking exclusively to BEN TV at his palace, Iwo, Osun State, the King lambasted all Yoruba Obas for encouraging idol worshipping.
He said, “Yoruba Obas should not worship deities. They are above deities, secret societies and cults. They should eradicate all fetish practices in their domain. That is the only solution to the growth of Yoruba race.
Speaking further, he reiterated that paganism was exported into Africa back in the days from the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Brazil, etc. These practices don’t make a nation great, we should make our tradition our way of life. Deity worship belongs to the ignorant days.
He also cited an example of the Osun-Osogbo festival which to him would have been more attractive to tourists if it were devoid of deity worship. According to him, the Olokun is not supposed to be worshipped as she’s the first wife of Oduduwa. She’s just a human being that had so much wealth in her days. However, he commended Nigerians in the Diaspora for their efforts in impacting on the nation’s economy through huge remittances from abroad.
He also thanked Nigerians in the Diaspora for giving Iwo indigenes over N1.5 billion worth of medical equipment w hich would be installed soon.
Oba AbdulRashid Adewale Akanbi has been on the throne for over 10 months in Iwo and has been giving free meals to locals three times a week; he also has a clothing bank whereby clothes are distributed in his domain, free of charge.
