The housing sub-sector in the Federal Capital Territory has received a major boost as the FCT Minister, Bala Mohammed commissioned 49 highly luxury apartments christened “AICL Apo Dutse Housing Estate”.
The Minister who was represented at the occasion by the FCT Permanent Secretary, Engr. John Obinna Chukwu revealed that the Estate was constructed at the total cost of N3 billion within a period of two years
In a Statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Minister Mohammad Sule, The Minister said that the FCT Administration through the Abuja Investment company limited embarked on these houses to tackle housing deficit in the Territory in consonance with the Transformation Agenda of the Federal Government.
According to him, “I am glad to recall that two years ago, I had personally encouraged Abuja Investment to embark on the AICL Apo-Dutse Housing Estate and to deliver on record time. So, this is heart warming that the dream project has become a reality, The delivery of these houses clearly demonstrates the commitment of the FCT Administration to meeting the challenge of housing confronting the residents of the Territory, which is part of our comprehensive efforts to deliver the dividends of the Transformation Agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan”.
He noted that based on available statistics, housing deficit in Nigeria is estimated at 17 million housing units of which about 5 to 10 percent is in the FCT due to the peculiar demographics of the FCT, resultant of daily massive influx of people.
Senator Mohammed explained further that the FCT Administration has awarded contracts for the provision of infrastructure in 10 districts namely; Jahi, Kagini, Maitama Extension, Wuye, Mbora, Kyami, Guzape I & II, Wasa and Katampe to drastically address the housing deficit in Abuja.
Welcoming guests to the epoch making event, the Group Managing Director of the AICL, Dr. Musa Ahmed Musa appreciated the support Abuja Investment has been receiving from the FCT Administration.
Dr. Musa who solicited for continuous support and cooperation from the FCT Administration leadership, stressed that Abuja investment is more than ever ready to take such strides to greater heights.
Meanwhile, the Minister also the ground breaking of AICL Guzape Mall and AICL Executive Office Suites in Garki II District, Abuja.
