Anambra state Governor Willie Obiano has said that security of lives and properties remains one of his main focus in Anambra state as other aspects of governance will not thrive without security.
Governor willie Obiano said this when he paid a courtesy visit to the Acting inspector General of Police Suleiman Abba in Abuja.
In his words, ” without security nothing happens, if you get security and electricity right, every other thing will be added unto you, my Four Cardinal Pillars in this administration are Agriculture, trade and Commerce, industrialisation and in Oil and Gas, and in all these, you can see that without Security, investment in those areas will not happen because people will be afraid to come and invest”
The Governor said that in the last 130 days the state government’s effort in funding and equipping the Police and the joint Task Force in Anambra state yield results as there has been a lot of Arrests which includes about 171 criminals and 70 kidnappers totalling about 241 arrests so far. He added that his Team has also help in rescuing a Reverend Father in Uli who was kidnapped in Enugu.
The governor said as a way of encouraging Divisional Police Officers DPOs posted to Anambra state, the state Government is building DPO quarters in all the 21 local Governments of the state which is already in advance stages.
He therefore used the medium to warn criminals to steer clear from Anambra State as all criminals will be arrested and prosecuted in-line with the law.
While speaking, the inspector General of Police IGP Suleiman Abba thank the governor for making Security one of his priorities and for also making sure that officers and men of the force in Anambra state have the right tools and equipment to work with.
” One thing I know that makes the work of policing easy is the right equipment; and this is very important in the time it takes to respond to emergencies, our desire and target is to reduce our response time in every Police command to a maximum of 5 minutes, and we are happy that the Government both at the federal and state level are making commitment in this regard and some have even gone beyond commitment to action like the case of Anambra state”. He noted
The IGP emphasised the readiness of the Nigerian Police Force to put in everything to make sure that the lives and properties of Nigerians are safe, and to work with governors that are legitimately elected.
