The chairman of Senate committee on Sports and Social Development, Senator Adamu Ibrahim Gumba has sent a congratulatory message to the Super Eagles of Nigeria for making it to the round of Sixteen in the ongoing 2014 FIFA World Cup championship in Brazil.
Senator Gumba said “despite the 3-2 lost to Argentina, Nigeria Super Eagle displayed true fighting spirit of Africa to have a place in the round of sixteen”.
He called on Nigerian sport lovers to keep praying and supporting the Super Eagles as they confront France in the the next round of the Tournament.
The chairman of the Senate committee on Sports also charged Coach Stephen Keshi, team members and the rest of technical crew to work hard and come out triumphantly as they take on France on Monday in the round of sixteen at the on going FIFA World Cup.
According to him, Sports especially Football has become a unifying tool for Nigeria as a nation saying it cuts across tribe and religion bearers.
In his word Nigeria is on the quest for another glorious history making if the Super Eagles qualify for quarter final of the World Cup.
Senator Gumba assured the Nigeria Sporting community of continuous supports from the Senate in complimenting the effort of the Federal Government in Sports development and social welfare.
